The holiday season is a time for giving, and many families face the harsh reality of food insecurity. At Lazy River Products, we believe in community support, and this year, we’re proud to partner with the Merrimack Valley Food Bank (MVFB) to help combat hunger. From November 1st to November 24th, we’re hosting a food drive at our store and will be accepting monetary donations throughout the entire month. All donations collected will directly support MVFB’s mission of providing food to those in need.

The Merrimack Valley Food Bank has been a cornerstone in the fight against hunger since its inception in 1991, serving over 70,000 people each month across 32 cities and towns in Massachusetts. The organization provides non-perishable goods, fresh produce, and hygiene products to families, seniors, and individuals who may be struggling to put food on the table. With special programs that offer nutritious meals to children, deliver food to seniors, and operate mobile pantries, the MVFB ensures that those in need have access to essential resources, especially during the holiday season.

A New Facility Brings Greater Impact

In early 2024, the Merrimack Valley Food Bank moved into a new facility on Middlesex Street in Lowell. This expanded space has significantly improved their capacity to store, manage, and distribute food. With more freezer space and an efficient layout, the MVFB is now able to serve more families than ever before. This facility upgrade is critical, especially during high-demand periods like the holidays when more families require support.

The larger capacity has also allowed the food bank to provide more fresh produce and perishable goods, offering more nutritious meals to the community. You can learn more about the new facility and the amazing work being done by visiting their website.

Lazy River Products’ Food Drive: How You Can Help

At Lazy River Products, we’re calling on our customers to join us in making a difference this November. From November 1st to November 24th, we encourage you to bring in non-perishable items like canned vegetables, soups, pasta, rice, and boxed meals to our store. Every donation will go directly to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, where it will be distributed to families in need.

In addition to food donations, we’re also accepting monetary contributions throughout the entire month. Even a small donation can make a big difference: just $1 helps the food bank provide multiple meals to individuals and families. To further increase our community’s impact, Lazy River Products will match every dollar collected in-store throughout the month of November, doubling the support we provide to the MVFB.

“We believe in the power of community,” says William Cassotis, CEO of Lazy River Products. “Partnering with the Merrimack Valley Food Bank gives us a chance to make a real difference in the lives of local families, especially during the holidays. Every donation helps, and we’re proud to be part of this important cause.”

The Importance of Community Involvement

Food insecurity affects thousands of families in Massachusetts, and the need continues to grow. Every donation—whether food or financial—contributes to alleviating hunger in our community. This holiday season, it’s more important than ever to support organizations like the Merrimack Valley Food Bank that are dedicated to ensuring no one goes hungry.

At Lazy River Products, we are committed to working alongside our community to make a meaningful difference. Through our food drive and fundraising efforts, we hope to provide as much support as possible to local families. Whether you bring in a can of vegetables or donate a few dollars, your contribution matters.
